Welcome! This is my first post on my first blog.
I will be sharing thoughts on two very different subjects: The Pursuit of Financial Independence, and Philosophy (atheism/faith).
Financial Independence
I’ve been striving for over a decade to build wealth starting from near zero.
My wife and I have accrued significant savings in 401(k)s, IRAs, plus a few small rental properties. But we’re in our mid-50s and far from financially independent. I am determined to achieve that within the next few years.
This blog will document my journey and share lessons, tips, and strategies to help other late-starters do the same.
Philosophy (atheism/faith)
I was a Christian pastor for 14 years, but I no longer believe in God.
I’ll be telling my story and sharing thoughts and insights as I continue to explore concepts of God, religion, morality, atheism and other related topics.
Honestly, I undertake this with some reluctance. I’m writing on this only because others have repeatedly asked and encouraged me to do so. I hope it helps others who wrestle with these ideas and their implications.
I’m no angry atheist. I will approach these topics with humility, respect, and thoughtfulness. I’m not looking to change anyone’s mind.
I don’t care what others believe or don’t believe, as long as it doesn’t infringe on my own life. But, I do think these are meaningful topics that cause some people a lot of anxiety. Maybe I can help with that. We’ll see.
